چکیده
The genus Sphecotypus O. Pickard-Cambridge, 1895, is currently represented by three species: S. birmanicus (Thorell, 1897) from Myanmar and Borneo, S. taprobanicus Simon, 1897 from Sri Lanka, and S. niger (Perty, 1833) from Central and South America. Of the three currently known species, only S. birmanicus has both sexes described, whereas the other two species are known from female specimens only, including the type species of the genus, S. niger (DeelemanReinhold 2001). Material recently examined from Costa Rica and Nicaragua included several specimens, including a male of S. niger, which is described here. The northern-most documented distribution of S. niger was Panama (Reiskind 1969; Platnick 2014). Thus, the specimens from Nicaragua extend the known range of these spiders further north.

A new species of ant mimicking spider, Myrmecotypus jasmineae (Araneae: Corinnidae: Castianeirinae), from Nicaragua.
Spiders of the corinnid genus Myrmecotypus Pickard-Cambridge, 1894 are known for being morphological and behavioral mimics of ants (Reiskind 1969, 1977; Cushing 1997, 2012; Rubio & Arbino 2009; Rubio et al. 2013). This genus currently includes nine species from to the New World. They occur from the United States (one species) to Argentina (one species), but most (seven species) occur from Mexic...
متن کاملA redescription of the ant mimicking spider Myrmecium gounellei (Araneae: Corinnidae, Castianeirinae), with notes on the genus.
Myrmecium Latreille, 1824 is a relatively large genus of Castianeirinae with 16 species, distributed exclusively in the Neotropics (WSC 2015). Although this genus is rather well known as a good example of ant mimicking spiders, its taxonomy is very poorly studied. Two of its species are described based on unknown sex; one species is described based on a juvenile; eight species are known based o...
متن کاملTaxonomic notes on the spider genus Messapus Simon, 1898 (Araneae, Corinnidae), with the description of the new genera Copuetta and Wasaka and the first cladistic analysis of Afrotropical Castianeirinae.
The Afrotropical sac spider genus Messapus Simon, 1898, presently placed in the Castianeirinae, is reviewed. The type material of the type species, M. martini Simon, 1898, clearly represents two different species, a corinnine female (here designated the lectotype) and a castianeirine male (the paralectotype). The female is redescribed and its corresponding male is described for the first time. ...
متن کاملA revision of the Afrotropical spider genus Cambalida Simon, 1909 (Araneae, Corinnidae)
The non-mimetic Afrotropical spider genus Cambalida Simon, 1909, placed within a subfamily of predominantly ant-mimicking spiders (Araneae: Corinnidae: Castianeirinae), is revised. Three species are transferred from Castianeira Keyserling, 1879 to Cambalida: Cambalida deminuta (Simon, 1909), comb. n., Cambalida fulvipes (Simon, 1896), comb. n. and Cambalida loricifera (Simon, 1885), comb. n.. متن کاملSynonymy of the North African spider genus Castanilla Caporiacco, 1936 with Micaria Westring, 1851 (Araneae: Gnaphosidae).
The spider genus Castanilla Caporiacco, 1936 is presently represented by two species, C. quinquemaculata Caporiacco, 1936 (type species) and C. marchesii Caporiacco, 1936, both described from Libya. The genus has never been revised and neither of the two species have ever been redescribed (Platnick 2013). The placement of the genus has up to now also been rather uncertain. Caporiacco (1936a,b) ...
